Mary Watts born 1759 at Hardingham, Norfolk was my 4 x Great Grandmother. She was baptised at Hardingham on 7 May 1759 to Charles WATTS and Jane DAY. On 30 August 1778 Mary married James HAYTHORPE at Hardingham. Mary and James had 10 children: Watts 1778-1847, Jemima 1780-1854, James 1782-1864, Mary 1784-1839, Charles 1786-1833, Elizabeth 1788, Reuben 1794-1876, Susan 1796-1863, Ann 1798 and Harriet 1800.
The furthest back I can trace the Watts line is to Charles WATTS who would have been born about 1600 and probaly in Hardingham. There is a burial record for "widoww" WATTS for 22 February 1659 and she could be Charles mother. Charles married Anne HORNIGO at Hardingham on 11 October 1632. Anne had been baptised at Hardingham on 19 April 1601 to Richardus and Alicia HORNIGO. I can trace three children born to Charles and Anne : Katherine 1635, Anna 1638 and Thomas 1642. Anne was buried at Hardingham on 21 August 1655 and Charles 20 July 1666.
Thomas, the son of Charles and Anne WATTS was baptised at Hardingham on 7th April 1642. He married Maria HIGGERSON on 4 December 1669 at Hardingham and I can trace three children: Charles 1670, John 1673 and Thomas 1680.
John, the son of Thomas Watts and Maria HIGGERSON was baptised at Hardingham on 29 December 1673. John was married at Hardingham on 22 July 1697 to Ann BAYES. I cannot be sure where Ann was born but there is a baptism record at Snetterton, Norfolk. If this is she then the poor little girl was baptised at just one month after her father's burial at Snetterton. Edmund BAYES was buried on the 27 March 1672 and Anne was baptised on 28 April 1672, the daughter of Mary BAYES, widow by Edmund Bayes her husband late deceased. John and Ann had six children: Elizabeth 1698, Thomas 1700-1700, Elizabeth 1701, John 1703, Charles 1706-1789 and Rose 1709-1710. Ann was buried at Hardingham 28 May 1749 and John 16 April 1754.
Charles was baptised at Hardingham on 28 December 1706, the entry records that he was born earlier that same month on 12 December. Charles married Jane DAY at Hardingham on 26 December 1732 and they had nine children: Richard 1733, Jane 1736, Charles 1739, William Bayes 1742, Stephen 1745, Mary 1747, Reuben 1750, Thomas 1752-1776 and Mary 1759-1819. Charles was buried at Hardingham on 12 December 1789 (his birthday) and Jane on 4 March 1795.
