John BUSHELL and his wife Jane ROGERS were Roger's 7 x great-grandparents. They were married at Monkton, Kent on 16th October 1663. There are three known sons: Thomas (1664), John (1666) and Richard (1673).
Richard was the son of John BUSHELL and Jane ROGERS. He was baptised at Monkton on 1 July 1673 and married Jane THRUM at Canterbury on 9 October 1696. They had four known children : James 1696, Jane 1699, Mary 1702 and John 1704.
John was the son of Richard BUSHELL and Jane THRUM. He was baptised at Minster in Thanet on 6 January 1704 and married Catherine CULMER at Monkton on 26 October 1725. They had 7 known children: John 1726, Margaret 1728, Thomas 1729, Elizabeth 1731, Margaret 1734, William 1737 and Mary 1739.
Mary was the daughter of John BUSHELL and Catherine CULMER. She was baptised at Birchington on 9 September 1739 and married John HOPKINS at Birchington on 17 January 1769. They had Thomas 1769, John 1770, William 1772 , Mary 1774, Stephen 1778 and Henry 1780. John and Mary's marriage united the Hopkins and Bushell families and the line of descent down through their son William. (See Hopkins Family History)
