Robert Henry BURTON

• Baptism, 1888, Swaffham, Norfolk. Baptism recorded in the Primitive Methodist Records

• Census, 1891, Swaffham, Norfolk. Lynn Road with parents

• Census, 1901, Swaffham, Norfolk. Living at Spinners Lane with his parents

• Census, 1911, Swaffham, Norfolk. living with his parents in Whitecross Lane bricklayer single aged 23

• Military Service, 1914, Swaffham, Norfolk. Served in France gassed possibly joined Royal Engineers

• Residence, 1918, Norwich, Norfolk. After WW1 Robert went to the Norfolk county Asylum, then know as Norfolk war hospital and then later as Norfolk Mental hospital and lastly as St Andrew's. Robert spent the rest of his life. it is known that he was affected my either Shell Shock or the effects of Mustard Gas. It is believed that although he went there first as a patient it is believed that he then stayed there working as a gardener.
